PSIA Level 1 - Ski Instructor training and certification
Sunday 10th April to Friday 15th April 2016

Kaprun, Austria

The Professional Ski Instructors of America level 1 training course is the entry level certification and acceptance on the course requires candidates to demonstrate a solid foundation of information and experience required to be an effective ski teacher. This is your opportunity to obtain a high quality qualification and life skill.

The pre-requisites for the course are (i) to be able to demonstrate a high intermediate parallel skiing ability with carved turns on a red run or similar and (ii) to pass an online technical exam operated by PSIA and (iii) join PSIA as a member.

Once you have joined PSIA you can obtain technical teaching manuals and other material from the PSIA website. Some material is free to members and there is a charge for other material including The Alpine Technical Manual. Studying this information and with use of your existing knowledge you can then take the online exam.

The course will run over four full days and evenings with two days training and two days examination. Course material is presented primarily during on snow skiing sessions and supported by evening seminars. Candidates already holding an ASL or BASI 1 award will be accredited two days training however we strongly recommend that they attend the two days training. Some PSIA terminology and teaching methods are different to that used by BASI and Snowsport Scotland.

The 5 night package includes:-

5 nights half board accommodation
4 day lift pass for Kaprun and The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier
PSIA - Senior Level 3 Instructor and Tutor for the course
Two days PSIA training including on snow during the day and evening seminars
Two days personal skiing and teaching ability appraisal, with a view to certification at Level 1.

TGM has teamed up with Endsleigh Insurance Services Limited to offer our travellers a range of excellent policies to choose from. Each policy includes:-

  • emergency medical expenses
